Reasons to join our PodiaTrust Society

1. It's free.
2. You need to be kept informed:
One example, is many of us do not know what a QMB patient is. This is a Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) patient that you are prohibited from billing regarding any cost sharing involving deductables, coinsurances and copayments.
Why leave money on the table? Why not just bill the correct insurance? The first step in getting paid would be to find out which patients are QMB patients. In New York State there is a website click here. Not only does this website give information about the QMB status, it lists a telephone number of the medicaid managed long term care program that a patient might be enrolled in.
Once you call that telephone number, you get the correct address to mail an original bill, as well as a copy of the explanation of benefits showing the coinsurance due. (The reason why this is done is because in New York State, medicaid is supposed to pay 85% of the copayment for a QMB patient. Yet many QMB patients enrolled in managed medicaid plans that have "podiatry benefits". One member of our PodiaTrust Society called emedny (1-800-343-9000) and was informed that such managed care plans took on the responsiblity to pay for 85% of such copayments for QMB enrolles in managed medicaid plans). If you have any questions why not consider calling the above phone number?
